Benny’s Yard

As one of the Freo Strip’s best-known institutions, Benny’s Bar’s popularity just keeps continuing to increase. Following suit it seems is Fremantle’s winter rainfall.

What was their issue?

Owners Ivan and Nelson realized that an outdoor cover solution was required to maximise their table space throughout the winter months.

They initially tried a marquee; but that just brought structural compromises, ongoing rental costs, and the inability to remove it easily on those lovely sunny winter days. They reached out to Cover Co to find a more versatile and permanent solution to their problem.

What did we do?

We designed a beautiful custom steel structure to accommodate their needs and lined it with insulated 100mm self-supporting Solarspan panels. This minimized the steel framework required, maximizing both table space and the all-important aesthetics of the venue.

We coupled this with our all-weather retractable roof system allowing them to open half of the covered area whenever they desired; blocking rain or heat and helping reduce noise when needed as well. The final touch was a custom LED lighting system throughout, along with added power outlets for the music equipment and lighting because let’s face it, it just wouldn’t be Benny’s without live music.

We handled all of the approvals processes from start to finish, so the boys could get on with the job of feeding happy people.

How’s it going?

Ivan and Nelson couldn’t be happier. They were able to make the most of the winter weather; their customers are loving the new space, and everyone is looking forward to a glorious summer in the yard!
